Kasado Hall (Kasado) Prefectural tangible folk- cultural property
Kasado Hall is standing in the eastern side of Oike, a big pond, in Shinzaike. It was built to hold a memorial service for the lord Honda Masakatsu, who was the lord of Koriyama, by his retainers and the farmers in 1674. The building has a rare shape with square pillar (40 cm each side) in the center and tiled roof on top of it. As the whole building looks like an umbrella, it has been called Kasado (or Karakasado), which literally means Hall of Umbrella. People started to pray to this hall for their good life and easy death at some point.
