Cherry Blossoms - March to April
Cherry blossoms bloom in many places around Katsuragi in spring time. Cherry blossoms are familiar to Japanese people as a symbol of Spring's arrival because they bloom all at once.
Naranoyaezakura is one kind of cherry that has double-petaled blossoms and includes the word Nara in its name. It is designated as a natural treasure. Somei-yoshino is the most common kind of cherry, which is seen all over Japan. It was bred by a gardener in Somei Village in Edo.
Season: late March - early April
Famous locations: Around Taima Government Building, Social Education Center, Yashikiyama Park and Hitomaro Children’s Park.
