桜

Cherry blossoms bloom in many places around Katsuragi in spring time.  Cherry blossoms are familiar to Japanese people as a symbol of Spring's arrival because they bloom all at once.

Naranoyaezakura is one kind of cherry that has double-petaled blossoms and includes the word Nara in its name. It is designated as a natural treasure.  Somei-yoshino is the most common kind of cherry, which is seen all over Japan. It was bred by a gardener in Somei Village in Edo.
